Role Summary

The Senior Assistant Visual Manager is a leader within the District and Region. They prioritize their store and team to create a visually engaging environment through application of display and merchandising. The Senior Assistant Visual Manager leads other special projects supporting district visual initiatives or career growth interests. 

Role Responsibilities

Brand Experience

  • Acts as a brand ambassador and reflects the company values; partners with the leadership team(s) on the creation of an engaging visual experience that appeals to the Free People customer
  • Demonstrates awareness of the impact that display and merchandising have on the overall store; interprets and executes seasonal visual display direction to create unique experiences in all locations
  • Takes a forward-thinking approach to the customer experience through in-store marketing, merchandising, display, and outfitting to create a compelling store environment

Leadership + Team Management

  • Trains the team(s) on store visual processes, merchandise placement, and standards; sets clear objectives and expectations by directing others on Home Office visual information and special projects
  • Mentors Assistant Visual Managers and acts as a resource within the district and region; leads district visual development through conference calls, workshops, prototypes, and new store openings
  • Maintains responsibility and ownership of own development and professional growth

Visual + Business Operations

  • Collaborates with the district and store leadership team(s) to plan a strategic approach to daily, weekly, and monthly brand business priorities; takes initiative to understand payroll and protects the balance visual tasking and service
  • Adapts and enhances visual direction and inspiration provided by the Brand Creative Team to meet the unique needs of the store; utilizes reporting tools to identify business opportunities with product placement, outfitting, and stock levels
  • Drives an effective shipment and omni process to prioritize getting product to the customer; takes a forward-thinking approach to make a strategic plan for execution and recovery of sell through and markdowns
  • Adheres to store’s safety standards, inventory accuracy, reduction of product loss, and upholds all company policy and procedures to support the profitability of the store

Communication + Relationships

  • Leads with an inclusive and people-first philosophy; engages employees at all levels to encourage open dialogue, reinforce follow through, and ensure that the store team is heard and supported
  • Builds and maintains productive partnerships with members of the Home Office, regional, district, and store teams; when applicable provides support to neighboring stores in the district
  • Communicates on District, Regional, and special project forums to provide meaningful insight related to the store experience; submits store environment photos to highlight merchandising and display updates
  • Embraces a culture of development by protecting time with direct reports and consistently delivering feedback for individual personal growth and succession planning; supports new and ongoing development and training needs for District or Regional leadership

  • Occasional travel; leads prototypes, landmark store visual support, store openings, meetings and display workshops when applicable
