Role Summary

The Regional Director will lead and inspire by taking a forward-thinking approach to the customer experience, in-store creative marketing, merchandising, activations, and leadership to drive sales and customer engagement. The goal is to deliver a unique, community-driven and entrepreneurial store experience by building on the 50-plus year tradition of Urban Outfitters as the top-of-mind destination for creative, like-minded customers and employees.

Role Responsibilities

BRAND EXPERIENCE

  

  • Customer Engagement: ensures teams deliver exceptional customer experiences that are efficient, engaging, and personalized; creates a compelling atmosphere for our customer through the use of merchandising and display 
  • Retail Experience: challenges and inspires district and store teams to elevate every aspect of the brick and mortar experience as brand and Omni channel capabilities expand; solicits ideas from field employees and customers, and translates good ideas into actionable concepts that can be shared 
  • Digital Experience: leverages localized digital marketing efforts to engage our customer in new ways; drives brick and mortar brand awareness through Local Social Media accounts, shoppable store pages and assortments, in-store pickup, and digital-first merchandising opportunities that reflect the evolution of the retail environment 
  • Community & Culture: innovates the stores’ execution of regional and special in-store events to drive brand awareness, community culture, and customer engagement with our retail spaces and products 

 

LEADERSHIP + TEAM MANAGEMENT

 

  • Recruit, Hire & Promote: creates hierarchy and organization that harmonizes individual talents to build a strong internal bench and maintain a network of great candidates; ensures that the overall regional manpower plan reflects high standards 
  • Develop & Train: develops personalized training plans using creative strategies to that build skills and expertise; creates empathy in leadership for all to thrive and advance through timely and specific feedback while fostering a culture of problem solvers and people that take action 
  • Inspire & Motivate: inspires teams through empowerment, creativity, empathy, and shared fate; tailors motivation to the individual and leverages the strengths of the regional team 
  • Leadership: shapes a new generation of creators, leaders, owners, problem solvers, innovators, and meaning makers that inspire all within the brand, the industry, and our customer 

 

VISUAL + BUSINESS OPERATIONS 

 

  • Analyze Business: utilizes and balances time with District Brand Leaders effectively to evaluate people, customer experience, operations, and visuals 
  • Achieve Results: drives regional sales plans through successful leadership and outstanding execution of operational and visual strategies in all stores 
  • Inspire Independent Thinking: integrates observations from store visits and store results in guiding teams to make strategic business decisions 
  • Change & Innovation: takes a forward-thinking approach to in-store creative marketing, merchandising, activations, customer experience, and supports leadership teams to drive sales and engage our customer 
  • Awareness: adheres to store’s safety standards, inventory accuracy, reduction of product loss, and upholds all company policy and procedures to support the profitability of the stores 

 

COMMUNICATION + RELATIONSHIPS 

 

  • Communication & Collaboration: encourages information sharing in order to facilitate problem-solving and make subjective decisions with objective information; collaborates with business partners to create a results-driven regional strategy that is aligned with Home Office goals  
  • Leadership & Feedback: inverts the hierarchal pyramid by keeping a two-way dialogue open at all times; inspires independent thought, action, and brand ownership to drive sales   
  • Digital Communication: works with new systems of communication to share ideas and information from a distance and communicates with multiple stores and teams at once; utilizes this to build community within the team and create an empathetic shared experience between Home Office and the field 
  • Knowledge & Information Dissemination: encourages innovation through dissemination of knowledge, a culture of peers teaching peers, and enabling easy access to information 

Role Qualifications

  • 10+ years multi-store experience 
  • Strong people management and leadership skills 
  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills 
  • Exceptional time management and decision-making skills 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment 
  • Strong merchant skills and a history of delivering financial results 
  • Proven record of hiring and developing great talent 
  • Experienced in coaching, counseling & conflict resolution
